Vit4ever Barista Whey Classic

Not everyone wants caramel or nougat in their coffee. Barista Whey Classic is the protein coffee for those who prefer coffee to simply taste like coffee: 8 percent real instant coffee, a hint of cocoa, and mostly a lot of whey protein otherwise. A tub contains 908 grams, enough to make about 30 servings. It is therefore the purest of the three Barista flavors, intended for athletes who combine their cup of coffee and protein shake into one moment.

Whey concentrate and whey isolate in a blend

Classic is the only flavor in the Barista range that contains, in addition to whey protein concentrate, also whey protein isolate, often referred to as whey isolate in sports shops. Isolate is a more filtered form of whey protein: more protein and less fat and milk sugar remain. You notice this in the numbers. A 30-gram serving provides 20.9 grams of protein for only 110 kcal, the lightest value of the three flavors. Proteins contribute to muscle mass development and maintenance. Proteins also contribute to the maintenance of normal bones. Those who want to reach about 1.6 to 2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight every day thus take a big step with a glass of protein coffee. Like the other flavors, Classic contains added lactase, the enzyme that breaks down milk sugar; in case of a true milk allergy, the product obviously remains unsuitable.

Coffee first, cocoa as a finishing touch

With 8 percent instant coffee powder, Classic contains the highest proportion of coffee in the range. The accompanying reduced-fat cocoa powder rounds off the taste, much like a mocha where the coffee clearly remains dominant. It is barely sweetened: 0.9 grams of sugar per serving, compared to 3.11 grams in Caramel and 3.55 grams in Nougat. The sucralose sweetener subtly complements this, and xanthan gum gives the drink a creamy thickness without added cream or fat. In addition, each serving contains 1.1 grams of fiber, which the other two flavors do not display on the label. If you normally drink your coffee black or with only milk, this is the logical choice within the assortment. Even the smell coming out of the tub is more reminiscent of a fresh cappuccino than a box of protein powder. Mixed cold, this coffee taste also holds up well, where many coffee powders tend to become flat.

80 mg of caffeine per serving, clearly labeled

Many people want to know how much caffeine such a coffee-protein shake contains. With Classic, you don't have to guess: the label states 80 mg of caffeine per 30-gram serving, or 267 mg per 100 grams of powder. For comparison: a cup of filter coffee usually contains about 80 to 90 mg. A glass is therefore, in terms of caffeine, roughly equivalent to your usual coffee. Practical for planning your day: most users drink their protein coffee in the morning or as a pre-workout boost, and avoid it in the late evening. If you alternate it with regular coffee, count both: as a guideline, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) cites approximately 400 mg of caffeine per day for adults. Due to caffeine, the product is not intended for children or during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

From breakfast coffee to post-workout shake

You prepare Classic exactly as strong as you want it. Shaken cold with water, it remains light and fresh, with milk it becomes a full-bodied coffee shake, and with hot water of a maximum of sixty degrees it comes closest to a simple cup of coffee. No hotter than that: whey protein coagulates when it gets too hot, comparable to milk curdling. On busy mornings, a glass replaces your espresso and breakfast protein all at once. And after an intense workout, it works like an iced coffee with protein, especially in summer. Since the taste remains neutral coffee, you can also mix the powder very well into oatmeal or a banana smoothie without it suddenly turning into a dessert. Such a protein coffee is also an easy way to distribute your protein intake throughout the day, because for your muscles, what matters most is the daily total.

In short: Barista Whey Classic is the high-protein coffee for purists. The most coffee, the least sugar, a blend of concentrate and isolate, and a caffeine content simply indicated on the label. At one glass a day, it lasts about a month. And if you want variety, it alternates very well with the sweeter Caramel and Nougat from the same range.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Barista Whey Classic taste like?

Like a creamy coffee with a hint of cocoa, it's the least sweet of the three Barista flavors. Coffee is clearly the dominant flavor, so it's not a coffee-flavored milkshake. Prepared with milk, it's closest to a latte.

How much caffeine does Barista Whey Classic contain?

80 mg per 30-gram serving, which is roughly the same as a cup of filter coffee. Per 100 grams of powder, this amounts to 267 mg. Classic is the only flavor in the range for which this content is listed on the label.

Can this replace my morning coffee?

For the coffee taste and caffeine, yes: one glass is roughly equivalent to a cup of coffee, with an additional 20.9 grams of protein. Prepare it hot with water at a maximum of 60 degrees. Boiling water will make the protein lumpy.

Why is xanthan gum used?

Xanthan gum is a thickening agent made by fermentation. It gives the shake a creamy and fuller texture without the need for cream or additional fat. This is why Classic remains at 110 kcal per serving.

What is the difference between whey concentrate and whey isolate?

Isolate is a more filtered form of whey protein, with a higher protein proportion and less fat and lactose. Concentrate is less processed and has a fuller taste. Classic combines both, leaving you with 20.9 grams of protein per 30 grams of powder.

Which Barista Whey is the least sweet?

This one. Classic contains 0.9 grams of sugar per serving, compared to 3.11 grams for Caramel and 3.55 grams for Nougat. If you want a sweeter, dessert-style coffee, choose one of the latter two.
