SiS Hydro Tablets Red Fruits

The red fruit flavour is the only one in the range where green tea extract is replaced by elderberry powder as a botanical addition. The SiS Hydro Tablets Red Fruits provide the same core of electrolytes as the rest of the range: sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium, supplemented with vitamins B1, B2 and B6. The flavour has a mild red fruit character, and the colour in the glass is deep red thanks to beetroot red as a colouring agent. Sugar-free and virtually calorie-free, suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Sodium is not just salt

Of all the electrolytes you lose through sweat, sodium accounts for the largest quantities. Depending on your body and the conditions, you lose between 200 and 2000 milligrams per litre of sweat. But it's not just about that quantity itself. Without enough sodium, your body retains water less effectively. You can drink large amounts of water and still remain dehydrated, because your kidneys quickly eliminate fluid if there's too little sodium in the blood. Each tablet provides 345 mg of sodium, at a concentration of 30 mmol/L in 500 ml of water. This concentration was not chosen at random.

30 mmol/L and the British sailors in Beijing

In 2008, the British Olympic sailing team asked SiS for help with hydration. Sailors sweat a lot, even if it may seem contradictory, and fluid loss in changing weather and wind conditions makes hydration difficult to manage. SiS formulated a tablet that provides exactly 30 mmol/L of sodium in 500 ml of water, a concentration that scientific studies have repeatedly shown to be more effective than plain water for rehydration. Since then, the formula has remained almost unchanged, because it works. Four electrolytes in each tablet: sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium. Not one, not two.

Three B vitamins, a modest but concrete addition

Vitamins B1, B2 and B6 are not the main players in this product, but they are included. Vitamins B1 and B2 contribute to the conversion of carbohydrates into energy. Vitamin B6 plays a role in protein metabolism. The quantities are modest: 0.2 mg of B1, 0.3 mg of B2 and 0.4 mg of B6 per tablet, which is 18%, 21% and 29% respectively of the daily reference intake. No exaggerated promises. Simply a useful supplement in a product you drink anyway.

Who is this product for?

For athletes who want to stay hydrated during shorter workouts without absorbing carbohydrates or sugars. Or for people who drink more than usual in hot weather and want to supplement their electrolytes. The tablet dissolves in 500 ml of water, contains almost no calories and is suitable for vegans. Each batch is tested by Informed Sport for banned substances from the WADA list, so competitive athletes can use it without fear.

The red fruits variant is a good choice for those who are looking for a little less freshness than citrus flavours while still wanting a light and recognisable fruity flavour. The elderberry powder gives the product a slightly more robust and darker fruity character.

Why SiS Hydro Red Berry Tablets?

The sodium concentration used by sports scientists

30 mmol/L of sodium per prepared drink. This is precisely the concentration that studies show rehydrates better than water alone. SiS developed this ratio for the British sailing team at the Beijing Olympics. It's not a marketing ploy: this dosage is set in the formula.

Four electrolytes in one tablet, not just sodium

Sodium is the electrolyte most challenged when you sweat, but you also lose potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Just one tablet provides all four. You don't have to manage anything separately for each mineral, and the tablet weighs 4.5 grams.

3.5 kcal per tablet, zero sugar

If you want to drink without consuming carbohydrates, for a short workout, a warm-up, or just in between activities, then this is exactly what you need. For truly longer efforts, you'll need separate carbohydrates; the hydro tablet is not an energy source but a hydration aid.

Each production batch tested against WADA's prohibited list

Informed Sport tests each batch for prohibited substances. For competitive athletes, this is a guarantee. The certificate is verifiable by batch on the SiS website.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do SiS Hydro Tablets actually do?

They dissolve in water and give you an electrolyte drink with sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and chloride, supplemented with vitamins B1, B2, and B6. When you sweat, you lose more than just water. Thanks to electrolytes, you absorb fluids better than with water alone. No sugar, almost no calories.

When should I take the tablets?

Three to four hours before exercise, to start well-hydrated. Then another half-liter in the hours leading up to it. For shorter workouts where you don't need carbohydrates, drink one dissolved tablet per hour. If you combine your effort with carbohydrates, use the hydro tablet separately, alongside your energy source.

Why so much sodium?

Sodium is the electrolyte you lose the most through sweat, from 200 to 2000 mg per liter depending on your body and conditions. But it also plays a role in fluid retention and absorption. Without enough sodium, you can drink large amounts of water and remain dehydrated, because your body does not retain it well.

Just one tablet, isn't that too little for a long workout?

For workouts up to 60-90 minutes, one tablet per hour is usually sufficient in addition to water. During longer or more intense exercise, or in hot weather where you sweat more, you can use multiple tablets. The upper limit is 4 per day.

What are vitamins B1, B2 and B6 used for?

Vitamins B1 and B2 help convert carbohydrates into energy. Vitamin B6 plays a role in protein metabolism. The quantities are modest, 0.2 mg of B1, 0.3 mg of B2 and 0.4 mg of B6 per tablet, representing 18%, 21% and 29% of the daily reference intake respectively.

What is the difference between the flavors?

Lemon, Strawberry & Lime, Pink Grapefruit, and Pineapple & Mango all contain green tea extract (2.3%) and are caffeine-free. Red Berries uses elderberry powder instead of green tea, with a beetroot red coloring. Cola + Caffeine is the only flavor that contains 75mg of caffeine per tablet. Please choose this version responsibly, as caffeine sensitivity varies from person to person.
