SiS Hydro Tablets Cola + Caffeine

This is the only variant in the range that contains caffeine: 75 mg per tablet, comparable to a strong espresso. The SiS Hydro Tablets Cola + Caffeine combine the electrolyte formula of the standard hydro tablet with caffeine as an additional boost. Convenient if you want to start a workout or competition both hydrated and mentally alert, without having a separate coffee or energy drink. No sugar, only 3.5 kcal per tablet. Lactose, gluten, and soy-free.

What does 75 mg of caffeine provide?

Caffeine temporarily blocks adenosine receptors in your brain, the molecules that make you feel sleepy when tired. This provides a temporary feeling of alertness and a reduced perception of effort. 75 mg is a modest but functional dose, comparable to a strong espresso. It's enough to feel an effect, but not so much as to cause jitters in most people. Be aware, however: if you are sensitive to caffeine or drink this product late in the day, it will keep you awake. Use with caution.

Sodium is not just salt

Of all the electrolytes you lose through sweating, sodium accounts for the largest amounts. Depending on your body and conditions, you lose 200 to 2000 milligrams per liter of sweat. But it's not just about the quantity itself. Without enough sodium, your body retains water less effectively. You can drink large amounts of water and still remain dehydrated, because your kidneys quickly eliminate fluid if there is too little sodium in the blood. Each tablet provides 345 mg of sodium, at a concentration of 30 mmol/L in 500 ml of water. This concentration was not chosen randomly.

30 mmol/L and British sailors in Beijing

In 2008, the British Olympic sailing team sought help from SiS for hydration. Sailors sweat a lot, even if it may seem contradictory, and fluid loss in changing weather and wind conditions makes hydration difficult to manage. SiS formulated a tablet that provides exactly 30 mmol/L of sodium in 500 ml of water, the concentration that, in scientific studies, has repeatedly proven more effective than plain water for rehydration. Since then, the formula has remained almost unchanged because it works. Four electrolytes in each tablet: sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Not one, not two.

Three B vitamins, a modest but concrete addition

Vitamins B1, B2, and B6 are not the main players in this product, but they are included. Vitamins B1 and B2 contribute to the conversion of carbohydrates into energy. Vitamin B6 plays a role in protein metabolism. The amounts are modest: 0.2 mg of B1, 0.3 mg of B2, and 0.4 mg of B6 per tablet, representing 18%, 21%, and 29% of the daily reference intake, respectively. No exaggerated promises. Simply a useful supplement in a product you drink anyway.

The cola flavor stands out from other variants due to its caramel coloring and the absence of green tea extract. For those who want to combine a familiar cola flavor with hydration and a caffeine boost before starting. Not recommended for children, pregnant women, and people sensitive to caffeine.

Why SiS Hydro Tablets Cola + Caffeine?

Sodium concentration used by sports scientists

30 mmol/L of sodium per prepared glass. This is precisely the concentration that studies show rehydrates better than water alone. SiS developed this ratio for the British Sailing team at the Beijing Olympics. This is not a marketing ploy: this dosage is fixed in the formula.

Four electrolytes in one tablet, not just sodium

Sodium is the electrolyte most used when you sweat, but you also lose potassium, calcium, and magnesium. A single tablet provides all four. You don't have to manage anything separately for each mineral, and the tablet weighs 4.5 grams.

75mg of caffeine per tablet, sugar-free

Cola + Caffeine is the only flavor containing caffeine, 75mg per tablet, comparable to a strong espresso. Convenient if you want to combine hydration with a mental boost before starting or halfway through a long session. No sugar, only 3.5 kcal.

Each production batch tested according to WADA prohibited list

Informed Sport tests each batch for prohibited substances. For competitive athletes, this provides assurance. The certificate is verifiable by batch on the SiS website.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do SiS Hydro Tablets actually do?

They dissolve in water and provide you with an electrolyte drink containing sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and chloride, supplemented with vitamins B1, B2, and B6. When you sweat, you lose more than just water. Electrolytes help you absorb fluids better than water alone. No sugar, almost no calories.

When should you take the tablets?

Three to four hours before exercise, to start well-hydrated. Then another half-liter in the hours leading up to it. For shorter workouts where you don't need carbohydrates, drink one dissolved tablet per hour. If you combine your effort with carbohydrates, use the hydro tablet separately, alongside your energy source.

Why is there so much sodium?

Sodium is the electrolyte you lose most through sweat, from 200 to 2000 mg per liter depending on your body and conditions. But it also plays a role in fluid retention and absorption. Without enough sodium, you can drink large amounts of water and still remain dehydrated because your body doesn't retain it well.

Is one tablet not too little for a long workout?

For workouts up to 60-90 minutes, one tablet per hour is usually sufficient in addition to water. During longer or more intense efforts, or in hot weather where you sweat more, you can use several tablets. The upper limit is 4 per day.

What are vitamins B1, B2, and B6 used for?

Vitamins B1 and B2 contribute to the conversion of carbohydrates into energy. Vitamin B6 plays a role in protein metabolism. The quantities are modest, 0.2 mg of B1, 0.3 mg of B2, and 0.4 mg of B6 per tablet, representing 18%, 21%, and 29% of the daily reference intake, respectively.

What is the difference between the flavours?

Lemon, Strawberry & Lime, Pink Grapefruit, and Pineapple & Mango all contain green tea extract (2.3%) and are caffeine-free. Red Berries uses elderberry powder instead of green tea, with a beetroot red colourant. Cola + Caffeine is the only flavour that contains 75mg of caffeine per tablet. Choose this version with care, as caffeine sensitivity varies from person to person.
