Additionally, the gel is isotonic, meaning it can be consumed without additional water, which makes it easier to take during exercise.
SiS recommends taking one gel 30 minutes before a short, intense effort, and 1 to 2 gels per hour during prolonged training. Tear open the top of the sachet and squeeze the contents directly into your mouth. As the gel is isotonic, there is no need to drink water to dilute it, but it is still important to stay well-hydrated during prolonged exercise.
A 60 ml serving provides approximately 85 kcal and contains about 21 g of carbohydrates, of which about 0.7 g are sugar. The main ingredients of the gel are water and maltodextrin (from corn), supplemented with natural flavoring, gelling agents (gellan gum and xanthan gum), acidity regulators (citric acid and sodium citrate), caffeine, preservatives (sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate), sweeteners (acesulfame K and sucralose), salt, and an antioxidant (ascorbic acid).
