SiS GO Energy Bar Mini Red Berries | Pack of 30

A 40-gram energy bar with 25 grams of carbohydrates, made from fruit juice, dried fruit, oats, and soy and rice crisps. The flavor is fresh and slightly red berry-focused, with raspberry and cranberry as dehydrated fruits. 30 bars per box, Informed Sport certified, suitable for vegetarians.

What a GO Energy Bar contains and why

The base is grape and pineapple juice from concentrate, supplemented with maltodextrin, dried fruit, oats, and a rice-soy crisp. This combination gives a moist but firm texture that doesn't stick and doesn't melt in a hot jersey pocket. Carbohydrates come from several sources: fast fruit sugars for immediate energy, slower complex carbohydrates from cereals and maltodextrin for broader release. This makes the bar more versatile than a purely sugary product. The 4.6 grams of protein per bar is not a performance advantage but makes the bar usable as a snack on training days, outside of a sporting context.

When to use a bar rather than a gel

Both provide carbohydrates, but their use differs. A gel takes two seconds: tear, squeeze, swallow. A bar requires 30 seconds of chewing. During intensive sections, a sprint, or uphill, a gel is more practical. On flat terrain, during a neutral rolling phase, or on the way to the start, a bar is the better choice. Many athletes plan their bars for the first half of an outing, when the stomach is still calm and chewing is pleasant. In the second half, with fatigue, they switch to gels. A bar is also suitable as a pre-workout snack, 30 to 60 minutes before starting if you haven't eaten enough.

Pack of 30: enough to last several weeks

At two bars per outing, one box covers 15 training sessions or outings. At one bar per training session with gels, the box lasts 30 training sessions. The 40-gram mini variant is smaller than the classic 65-gram GO Energy Bar and fits more easily into a jersey pocket, bike bag, or running belt. The packaging is pressure-resistant to survive a pocket full of gels, phone, and keys.

Why the SiS GO Energy Bar Mini Red Berries?

25 grams of carbohydrates from fruit, oats, and maltodextrin

The base of each bar is fruit juice (grape and pineapple), supplemented with maltodextrin, dried fruit, oats, and a soy-rice crisp. The carbohydrates come partly from fruit (fast sugars) and partly from more complex sources, resulting in a broader energy release than a purely sugar-based bar.

4.6 grams of protein per bar, also usable outside of sports

The soy protein isolate in the crisps provides 4.6 grams of protein per bar. Not enough for post-workout recovery, but sufficient to make the bar usable off-bike as a snack or an extra carbohydrate source on busy training days.

40 grams, fits in every jersey pocket

The mini variant is smaller than the classic GO Energy Bar. Fits in one hand, fits in a jersey pocket next to a gel. Pressure-packed to survive the ride intact.

Informed Sport Certified, suitable for vegetarians

Each batch is tested for WADA-prohibited substances. Contains gluten (oats, rice) and soy. Caffeine-free.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many bars do I need per hour?

One bar provides 25 grams of carbohydrates. For 60 grams per hour, you need two bars, or you can combine one bar (25 grams) with a GO Isotonic gel (22 grams) for 47 grams. Add a GO Electrolyte bottle and you exceed 80 grams per hour. Mini bars work best as part of a broader strategy, not as a sole energy source.

When to use a bar instead of a gel?

A gel is quicker: you squeeze and it's done. A bar requires a few seconds of chewing but provides more satisfaction and contributes to the feeling of truly eating during prolonged exertion. Many athletes alternate: gel for intense sections, bar for calmer parts. A bar is also suitable as a snack before training, 30 to 60 minutes before starting.

Can I also eat the bars before and after training?

Before: yes, as a carbohydrate top-up snack 30 to 60 minutes before exercise. After: the bars contain little protein for recovery (4.6 grams), so if you are specifically aiming for muscle recovery, REGO products are more suitable. As part of an overall carbohydrate intake after a workout, they are very useful.

What is the difference between the three flavors?

Red Fruits has a fresh berry flavor with raspberry and cranberry in the ingredients. Chocolate Fudge contains cocoa powder as an additional ingredient, which gives it a slight chocolate note. Banana Fudge contains banana pieces and banana flavoring. The nutritional values are almost identical across all three flavors. The difference lies solely in the taste and specific fruit components.

Are these bars vegan?

Not entirely. The bars contain calcium lactate as a humectant, which can be of animal origin. SiS states that the calcium lactate in GO bars is derived from lactic acid combined with calcium carbonate, making it suitable for vegetarians but not certified vegan. However, the bars are free from egg and dairy proteins.
