SiS GO Energy Bake Lemon

A 50-gram soft energy bar with a fruity filling. 30 grams of carbohydrates per bake, 190 kcal, suitable for use during prolonged exertion as an alternative or supplement to energy gels. The bakes are individually wrapped, compact, and pressure-resistant to fit in a jersey pocket.

What distinguishes a bake from a gel

A gel is quick: you squeeze and it's done. A bake takes a few seconds longer but gives the sensation of actually eating, at a time when, after an hour of cycling or running, you're tired of liquid sugars. The soft texture and fruity filling provide more mouthfeel than a gel. For some athletes, this is precisely the difference that allows them to eat consistently, whereas they would otherwise skip a gel because they no longer feel like it after a few hours. Research confirms that carbohydrates from gels, drinks, and bars are, at equal concentration, absorbed equally well: the choice is a matter of personal preference for format and texture, not a performance advantage.

The Lemon flavor

The lemon variant has a slightly tart fruity filling made from apple juice concentrate with lemon flavoring and curcumin as a natural yellow coloring. The flavor is fresh and lightly intense, not dominated by sugar. The green tea extract present in the bake is a fixed component of the lemon variant and is not a nootropic in itself but an ingredient for taste and texture.

How the bake fits into your hourly strategy

One bake per hour provides 30 grams of carbohydrates, at the lower end of the recommended range of 60 to 90 grams per hour during intense endurance exercise. Combine it with a GO Isotonic gel (22 grams) and you reach 52 grams. Add a GO Electrolyte bottle and you reach 88 grams per hour. Or use two bakes per hour if you prefer solid food and don't want gels. The bake is well suited for quieter moments of an outing, such as a flat section or a downhill, where chewing is more comfortable than at full power.

Why SiS GO Energy Bake Lemon?

30 grams of carbohydrates in a 50-gram soft filled bake

Two types of carbohydrates: 20 grams of glucose (from wheat flour and maltodextrin) and 10 grams of fructose in the fruit filling. The same dual-source approach as GO Gels, but in a solid, chewable form. 190 kcal per bake.

Soft texture, edible even with a dry mouth during exercise

The bake is cooked in an airy way and contains a 15% fruit filling. Softer than most energy bars. It is advisable to drink a little water with it: the bake is drier than a gel and goes down more easily with a sip of water.

Fits in a jersey pocket or running belt

Individually compact-wrapped, pressure-tested so the packaging won't tear in a back pocket. Tear and eat while riding or running. Twelve bakes per box.

Informed Sport Certified

Each batch is tested for WADA banned substances. Contains gluten, milk and egg. Not suitable for individuals with gluten intolerance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Bakes to use per hour?

Each Bake provides 30 grams of carbohydrate. To achieve the recommended 60-90 grams per hour, you should aim for 2-3 Bakes, or combine a Bake with a GO Isotonic Gel (22 grams) and a GO Electrolyte sachet (36 grams). This will provide flexibility in how you achieve your hourly carbohydrate intake.

Should you drink water with the bake?

It's highly recommended. The bake has a drier texture than a gel. In cases of dry mouth or heat, the bake can be harder to swallow. Take a sip of water before and after eating the bake. This is a common piece of advice frequently mentioned by regular users.

When to take a bake, before or during exercise?

Both are possible. SiS recommends using the bake as part of your time-based strategy during exercise, but it also works well for carbohydrate loading before a tough training session or competition. Do not start eating later than the first half hour if you are doing longer sessions.

What is the difference to the Beta Fuel Chew Bar?

The GO Energy Bake is a 50 gram soft, baked product with 30 grams of carbohydrate in a 2:1 glucose to fructose ratio. The Beta Fuel Chew Bar is a 60 gram chewable bar with 45 grams of carbohydrates in a 1:0.8 glucose to fructose ratio. The Chew Bar delivers more carbohydrates per unit and has a firmer structure. The bake has a lighter, more bread-like texture with a fruity filling.

Are bakes also suitable for running?

Yes, but gels are more practical for running due to chewing. A bake requires more chewing than a gel, which can be less comfortable at a high heart rate. For cycling, walking, or at a more moderate pace, bakes are a very good choice as an alternative to gels.
