SiS BETA Recovery Strawberry
A recovery shake for endurance athletes who want to recover quickly after hard sessions of 90 minutes or more. SiS BETA Recovery Strawberry provides per 100g powder dose: 60g of carbohydrates in a 1:1 maltodextrin and fructose ratio, 30g of whey protein with 3g of leucine, and BC30, a probiotic strain for better protein absorption. The flavor is a refreshing strawberry flavor, with beetroot juice as a coloring agent for the pink color. The strawberry flavor contains beetroot juice as a coloring agent and citric acid for a slight freshness. No cocoa powder, so light in taste.
Why two carbohydrate sources and not just one
Maltodextrin and fructose are absorbed in the intestine by different transport mechanisms. Maltodextrin passes through SGLT1 transporters and is largely stored directly by the muscles as muscle glycogen. Fructose passes through GLUT5 and is processed by the liver into liver glycogen. After intense exertion, both reserves are used. By replenishing them at the same time, you recover faster than with a single carbohydrate source. The 1:1 ratio of BETA Recovery allows both glycogen stores to be replenished simultaneously.
30g of whey protein and 3g of leucine
After exercise, in addition to replenishing glycogen, muscle proteins also need to be repaired. Whey protein provides all nine essential amino acids and is rapidly available. The 3g of leucine per dose is specific: leucine gives the starting signal for muscle protein synthesis via the mTOR signaling pathway. This is the dose at which research reports maximal muscle protein synthesis after endurance training. So you get not just protein, but protein in an amount and composition that supports the recovery stimulus.
The probiotic BC30: why it's present
BC30 stands for Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086. It is a specific probiotic strain that, in sporulated form, remains stable in powder and survives stomach acidity. This is not the case for all probiotics. Research on this strain shows a positive effect on digestion, immune response, and protein absorption. This last point is relevant in a recovery drink: taking 30g of whey protein is of little use if part of it is poorly absorbed due to intestinal problems after intense exertion.
The 30-minute window after training
Muscles and the liver respond most strongly to carbohydrates and proteins in the first 30 minutes after exercise. Glycogen storage is then faster than later in the day. This is not a claim by SiS, but a physiological fact established for decades in sports nutrition research. Add 100g of powder to 500ml of cold water, mix well, and drink immediately. Four full doses correspond to the standard dosage for a 500-700ml shaker.
BETA Recovery is intended for athletes who train regularly and intensively and are careful about their recovery. It is not a daily supplement but a targeted drink for right after exertion. Combined with sufficient sleep and a varied diet, it supports preparation for the next session.
