SiS Beta Fuel 80 Red Berry
An 82-gram sachet to dissolve in 600 ml of water. SiS Beta Fuel 80 Red Berry provides 80 grams of carbohydrates per hour in an isotonic drink form, based on maltodextrin and fructose in a 1:0.8 ratio. The flavor is a light red berry taste without artificial sweetness, pleasant to drink during intense effort. Gluten-free, suitable for vegans, Informed Sport certified.
Why 1:0.8 and not 2:1
Traditional dual-source sports drinks use a 2:1 maltodextrin to fructose ratio. With the common 2:1 ratio, the SGLT1 transporter in the gut quickly saturates. A 1:0.8 ratio has been shown to increase carbohydrate oxidation efficiency from 62% to 74%, representing 17% more carbohydrates used per hour for the same intake. At the same time, participants reported fewer symptoms of bloating and nausea. Based on this research, SiS has reconfigured the entire Beta Fuel range to the 1:0.8 ratio.
Isotonic solution in 600 ml of water
A sports drink with 80 grams of carbohydrates in 500 ml of water would be hypertonic, meaning the stomach draws fluid to dilute the content before processing it. This is precisely what causes gastric upset with concentrated sports drinks. Beta Fuel 80 dissolves in 600 ml of water and then becomes isotonic, at the same concentration as blood and bodily fluids. The stomach processes it directly without additional fluid subtraction, which reduces the risk of bloating or nausea.
One sachet per hour or combine with gels
One sachet per hour provides 80 grams of carbohydrates, at the lower end of the recommended range of 80 to 120 grams per hour for endurance efforts lasting more than two hours. If you want to increase this intake, combine the sachet with a Beta Fuel gel or chew bar. This allows you to spread the intake between drinking and eating and adapt it to what your stomach can tolerate at that moment. Drink small sips regularly and don't put the bottle aside before emptying it.
Three ingredients, nothing more
The ingredient list is short: maltodextrin (57%), fructose (42%), and flavor. No preservatives, no colorings, no sweeteners. Gluten-free, lactose-free, wheat-free, and nut-free, suitable for vegans. Each production batch is tested by Informed Sport against the WADA prohibited substance list. The product contains no sodium. During prolonged effort where you sweat a lot, add a HYDRO tablet or HYDRO+ sachet to supplement sodium intake.
Beta Fuel 80 is a product for those who exercise for a long time at high intensity and take their carbohydrate intake seriously. For efforts under two hours, the dosage of 80 grams per hour is too high for most athletes. The product is then not the most logical choice compared to one or two separate GO gels per hour.
