SiS Beta-Alanine Capsules

SiS beta-alanine capsules contain 750mg of beta-alanine per capsule. Four capsules together make up precisely 3 grams, and with 120 capsules per tub, you have 30 servings. This is a single-active-ingredient product, designed for athletes who choose their supplements as carefully as their training plan.

From Beta-Alanine to Carnosine in Your Muscles

Beta-alanine is an amino acid that your body produces itself and is also found in animal protein sources. In your muscle cells, it binds with the amino acid histidine to form carnosine, a substance that your skeletal muscles store. Carnosine acts as a buffer there: it captures hydrogen ions released when your muscles work at high intensity. What many people don't know: of these two components, beta-alanine is the limiting factor. Your histidine reserves are more than sufficient, so the amount of available beta-alanine determines how much carnosine your muscles can produce. And to be honest: there are no EU-approved health claims for beta-alanine. Shops that claim it fights acidification or makes you faster are making claims that cannot be legally substantiated. We do not participate in that; what beta-alanine is and what it becomes in your body, you can read above.

Capsules or Powder

Beta-alanine comes in powder and capsule form, and both have their place. Those who take large daily quantities often choose powder. Many athletes choose beta-alanine capsules for their practical benefits: 750mg per capsule is precisely measured, so you don't need a scale or a scoop and you never dose too much or too little. Pure beta-alanine powder also has a distinctly bitter taste; a capsule, you don't taste. And a tub of capsules easily fits into your gym bag, even on competition days. The capsule shell is made of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, a plant-based material, making the product suitable for vegans.

These Tingles, How It Works

Perhaps the most well-known property of beta-alanine: a tingling or prickling sensation in the face, neck, or hands, shortly after ingestion. This is called paresthesia. It occurs when the concentration of beta-alanine in your blood rapidly peaks after a large dose, and it subsides on its own in about an hour. It's harmless, but not everyone finds it pleasant. This is where capsules are handy: you can spread the daily dose, for example, two capsules at breakfast and two at dinner. Smaller servings result in a lower peak in your blood, and taking it with a meal further mitigates this. Competitors rarely mention this on their product page; we prefer to simply state it, so you know what to expect.

Tested Against WADA List, Batch by Batch

SiS has each production batch checked via Informed Sport, the independent testing program of the LGC laboratory. Every batch is checked for substances on the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) prohibited list before being released. For cyclists, rowers, combat sports athletes, and anyone who might be subject to anti-doping controls, this is the difference between taking a supplement and taking a risk. SiS has been supplying professional teams and Olympic athletes for years, and these beta-alanine capsules fall under the same testing regime. Good to know: beta-alanine should be taken daily, even on rest days. It's not a pre-workout that you schedule around your training; the intake itself constitutes the entire protocol.

In short: a single amino acid, precisely dosed in vegan capsules, each batch verified by the lab. A beta-alanine product doesn't need to be more, nor less.

Why SiS Beta-Alanine?

4 capsules are exactly equivalent to 3 grams

Each capsule contains 750 mg of beta-alanine. No scales, no measuring spoon, and no dosage errors: four capsules together form a measured serving of 3 grams.

Each batch is tested by the Informed Sport laboratory

An independent laboratory tests each production batch for substances on the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) prohibited list. This makes it one of the few beta-alanine products on the Dutch market with batch-by-batch anti-doping control.

Easy to spread throughout the day

The individual capsules are effortlessly distributed, for example, 2 at breakfast and 2 at dinner. Practical for those who want to limit the well-known skin tingling.

Flavourless vegan capsule

The capsule wall is made of plant-based hydroxypropyl methylcellulose instead of gelatin. And where pure beta-alanine powder has a distinctly bitter taste, a capsule is not tasted.

Health claims

Why is there sometimes little or no information available on how a product works?
Unfortunately, due to strict European regulations, we are currently only able to provide limited information on product actions. Only authorized claims listed in the EU database may be mentioned. Therefore, scientific study results often cannot be shared. For example, we cannot say anything about the action of caffeine, even though the effect of coffee is widely known. If you have specific questions about this product or would like more information on how it works, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service for personalized advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Beta-Alanine do in your body?

Beta-alanine is an amino acid that your body uses as a building block for carnosine, a substance stored in your skeletal muscles that buffers hydrogen ions there. Of the two components of carnosine, beta-alanine is the limiting factor. We cannot say more legally: there are no EU-approved health claims for beta-alanine.

Why do I get a tingling sensation from beta-alanine?

This is paresthesia: a harmless and temporary tingling sensation in the face, neck, or hands, which can occur when the concentration of beta-alanine in your blood rapidly peaks. It disappears on its own in about an hour. To reduce it, spread the 4 capsules throughout the day and take them with a meal.

Can I combine beta-alanine with creatine?

Yes, absolutely. These are different substances that do not interfere with each other, and both are taken daily rather than around your workout. Many strength and interval athletes use them together. Just make sure to use each product according to its own dosage recommendations.

Do I immediately feel the effects of beta-alanine?

No, and that's normal. Beta-alanine is not an immediate-effect supplement like caffeine. Carnosine accumulates in your muscles over weeks of daily intake, so consistency is more important than the timing of consumption. The only thing you might notice in the short term is the well-known tingling sensation on the skin, and it is harmless.

What Exactly Is Carnosine?

Carnosine is a dipeptide, a combination of two amino acids: beta-alanine and histidine. Your muscles store it and use it as a buffer for the hydrogen ions released during intense muscular work. Your body produces carnosine itself, and the amount of available beta-alanine determines how much it can produce.

What is the difference between capsules and powder?

The substance is the same; the difference lies in its use. Capsules are precisely pre-dosed (750 mg per unit), tasteless, and easy to carry or distribute throughout the day. Powder is more practical by the gram for those who use large quantities, but it has a bitter taste and requires a scale or measuring spoon for an accurate dose.
