What one tablet adds to your water

Each tablet provides 250 mg of sodium, 56 mg of magnesium, 70 mg of potassium, 9 mg of calcium, and 28 mg of vitamin C, dissolved in 750 ml of water. Sodium is by far the mineral you lose the most through sweat; the rest comes as a supplement. Magnesium contributes to normal electrolyte balance and vitamin C helps reduce fatigue. The tablet is divisible: half a tablet gives a lighter taste, dissolved in 500 ml a more concentrated drink.

When an electrolyte tablet makes sense

Many athletes wonder if they need electrolyte tablets in addition to drinking water. The answer lies in sweat: it contains an average of about 900 mg of sodium per liter. If you only drink water while sweating a lot, you quickly eliminate some of that fluid; with sodium, your body retains it better.
