What Digestive Enzymes Are

Enzymes are proteins that trigger a chemical reaction. Digestive enzymes do this with your food: they break down large nutrients into smaller pieces. Each enzyme has its own task. Amylase acts on carbohydrates, protease on proteins, and lipase on fats. Cellulase breaks down plant fibers, and lactase breaks down lactose, the sugar found in milk and dairy products. Important to know: enzymes themselves are not absorbed as whole proteins; they do their work in the digestive tract and are then broken down like other foods. Finally, Weizmannia coagulans has been added, a probiotic bacterial strain previously known as Bacillus coagulans. This strain is spore-forming, meaning it has a protective layer around it. This makes it more resistant to stomach acid and heat than many other bacteria, so viable cells can reach the intestine. Each daily dose provides 3 billion colony-forming units. The combination of these additional enzymes, two plant extracts, and the probiotic makes this product broader in composition than a simple enzyme blend.

Vegan and Activity in Units

All ingredients are plant-based and integrated into a vegan capsule, without artificial colors, flavors, or fragrances. What distinguishes this product from many simple enzyme products is its transparency: the label not only indicates the number of milligrams but also the enzymatic activity in units. For digestive enzymes, this is the figure that truly matters, as two products containing the same number of milligrams can differ significantly in activity.
